Lisa Roman has worked for the School District of Palm Beach County, Florida for 27 years and currently serves the district through the Department of Professional Development. Her master’s degree in educational leadership has afforded Lisa the opportunity to build the instructional leadership of teacher leaders, assistant principals, principals, and district administrators by developing and providing training and support on researched-based instructional practices, coaching and feedback. Her in-depth understanding of both pedagogy and andragogy has fostered the development of school-based and district leadership. Additionally, Lisa has facilitated observer calibration training to ensure inter-rater reliability among administrators. She is a contributor to the research on instructional practices conducted by Instructional Empowerment. Lisa’s work has been included in the publication, The Gritty Truth of School Transformation. Lisa Roman has expanded her skill set by becoming a YMHFA instructor and assisted Palm Beach County School District, the 10th largest District in the United States, reach its goal set forth by the Florida Department of Education of achieving 80% of employees being YMHFA certified. Her extensive experience with The Focused Model and her role as a Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor makes her uniquely qualified to support the district’s trauma-informed care initiative. She is currently collaborating with the Behavioral and Mental Health team in order to identify and align pedagogical practices with Trauma-Informed Care.
