Designing Lessons from Direct Instruction to Complex Learning Using the Rigor Map, Focused Teacher Evaluation Model, and Marzano’s Taxonomy

This session will empower teachers to create dynamic, rigorously designed lessons within a unit that evolve from direct instruction to complex learning. By integrating the Rigor Map, the Focused Teacher Evaluation Model (FTEM) Instructional Framework, and Marzano’s Taxonomy, teachers will learn how to scaffold instruction in a way that gradually increases cognitive complexity and ensures students can reach higher-order thinking and application. Teachers will leave the session with a clear, structured approach to planning lessons that move seamlessly through stages of learning, fostering growth and engagement.
